Cause of COPD!
• Active or Passive smoking, Indoor or Outdoor Air pollution and Genetic Abnormalities are the causes of COPD in the order of priority

Symptoms of COPD
• Shortness of breath, especially during physical activities
• Wheezing
• Chest tightness,
• Frequent lung infections
• Tiredness
• Unintended weight loss
• Chronic cough
• Bluish finger nails
• Bluish Lips
• Swelling in ankles, feet or legs
• Excess mucus formation in the throat

Risk Factors
• Direct or Indirect exposure to tobacco smoke
• Smoking while suffering from Asthma
• Constant exposure to dust and chemicals
• Constant exposure to fumes from burning fuel
• Age above 40 Years
• Genetics of an Individual – Alpha-1Antitrypsin Deficiency

Complications
• Respiratory infections
• Heart problems including heart attack
• Lung cancer
• High blood pressure in lung arteries (Pulmonary Hypertension)
• Depression

• Quit smoking and avoiding second hand smoking
• Protect yourself from irritants and pollutants with suitable protective gear
