- Get your health checked periodically including screening for cancers, as they have high incidences after 60s
- Hearing loss is one of the most common aging associated phenomena. Get medical help to hear better.
- Lack of physical activity makes you lose muscle and gain fat; start burning calories with regular and suitable exercises.
- Keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water or water rich fruits and apply heavy moisturiser after bath to your skin for managing dryness, itching and wrinkles
- Avoid smoking and eating salty, fatty and sugary foods to stay away from heart problems and diabetes.
- Practice Walking, Swimming, Yoga or other milder but effective exercises at least for 30mins in a day.
- Take up memory building activities and make notes on to-do items and peoples’ names to manage forgetfulness.
- Get your vision checked as frequently as every quarter; 30% of seniors over 65 years do suffer from one of the vision problems like cataracts, dry eye or glaucoma and even macular degeneration
- Get screened for osteoporosis and bone density at least once in an year.
- Ask your doctor if you need Calcium and Vitamin supplements.
- Aging causes sleeplessness due to low melatonin levels; Meditation, Yoga, stress relieving exercises, family time, day naps and medically suitable supplements should help.
- Aging stiffens arteries causing arteriosclerosis leading to higher blood pressure. Medications and Healthy Diet should ease the condition and associated symptoms.
- Don’t get worked up if you are suffering from urinary incontinence; you are not the only one. Take help from family and doctor to address the problem.
- Get revaccinated for Flu, Shingles and Pneumococcal infections as you have poorer immune system.
- See your dentist regularly to stay on top of your oral health.
