Description

Paleness is an abnormal loss of color from normal skin or mucous membranes

Symptoms

  • Acute onset anemia
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Low blood pressure
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Medical emergency
  • Fainting
  • Fever
  • Vomiting blood
  • Bleeding from the rectum
  • Abdominal pain

Cause

  • Normal fair complexion
  • Anemia (blood loss, poor nutrition, or underlying disease)
  • Problems with the circulatory system
  • Shock
  • Fainting
  • Frostbite
  • Low blood sugar
  • Chronic (long-term) diseases including infection and cancer
  • Certain medicines

Treatment

  •  Balanced diet
  • Taking iron, B-12, or folate supplements
  • Taking medication
