Azoospermia

Overview

One of the biggest reason’s for a mans infertility is azoospermia. This happens when the ejaculate or semen (the white fluid that is thick and is released from the penis during ejaculation) has hardly any noticeable amount of sperm in it. The testicles are responsible for producing sperm in a man’s body. The sperm passes through his reproductive system and mixes with fluid which then forms sperm. It is estimated that 5-10% of men who suffer from infertility have this condition. Azoospermia may be present since birth or may have developed later in life.

Types of Azoospermia

Azoospermia is of two types:
Obstructive azoospermia
In obstructive azoospermia, the production of sperm is normal, but the reproductive tract for the testicles is obstructed. Therefore the sperm cannot enter the semen. Generally, if a man has the condition of obstructive azoospermia, the location of this obstruction can be found through microsurgery. The azoospermia treatment success rate are remarkable.
Non-obstructive azoospermia
In non-obstructive azoospermia the production of sperm is poor, which means that the sperm that appears in the semen is not of a measurable amount. If someone suffers from non-obstructive azoospermia, it is generally recommended that to start a biological family, the best option is to use sperm retrieved from the testis with assisted reproduction for
example: IVF and ICSI.

Causes of Azoospermia

For both obstructive azoospermia as well as non-obstructive azoospermia, the two main causes are either there is an issue with the production of sperm or else there is an obstruction that makes it difficult for the sperm to reach the ejaculate. There are certain other conditions that can cause azoospermia which are:

    Azoospermia Treatment In Hyderabad

At Virinchi Hospitals, the Azoospermia treatment begins with a detailed review of the previous medical problems and lifestyle of the patient, followed by a physical examination that includes blood tests to check the levels of testosterone and follicle stimulating hormones. After this, analysis of two semen samples is done.

In case the analysis is not very clear then sperm production within the testis itself is examined. If sperm are not found in enough amount in the ejaculate, then it is probably because of some blockage in the reproductive tract. It could also be because the sperm that is being made is insufficient to get into the ejaculate. In most cases, however, the obstruction is repairable with either microsurgical or endoscopic reconstruction.

In case of non-obstructive azoospermia, the help of non obstructive azoospermia treatment in Hyderabad can assist some men in being able to produce ejaculated sperm.
