PANCREATITIS

Description

  • pathologic swelling and inflammation of the pancreas
  • it can be acute or chronic

Symptoms

  1. a high temperature (fever)
  2. nausea,vomiting
  3. jaundice
  4. indigestion
  5. diarrhoea
  6. severe, dull pain around the top of your stomach
  7. unintentional weight loss
  8. bloating with a distended (swollen) stomach
  9. hiccups

Causes

  1. gal stones
  2. alcohol
  3. accidental damage or injury to the pancreas
  4. antibiotics,chemotherapy
  5. mumps or measles
  6. cystic fibrosis
  7. Family history of pancreatitis
  8. High calcium levels in the blood (hypercalcemia), which may be caused by an overactive parathyroid gland (hyperparathyroidism)
  9. High triglyceride levels in the blood (hypertriglyceridemia)
  10. Infection

Lifestyle Management

  • Stop drinking alcohol.
  • Stop smoking.
  • Choose a low-fat diet.
  • Drink more fluids.
